Set’r Ridge’s Winchester Elite RN JH wins derby Stake to become Field Pointed.

Elite just placed second in the Derby Stake at the National Field Trial.
Elite is now Field Pointed. He won 1st Amateur Walking Derby Setter only and 3rd Open Derby All Breed Stake the weekend of March 22nd.
Elite also earned his Rally Novice title and his Junior Hunter title at the English Setter Association of America National. Handled by Terry Barnes. Won winners dog both days at the Golden Gate Kennel Club dog show. Handled by Rachel Barnes. Owned By Terry Barnes. Bred-by Melissa Newman, Micah Johnson, and Kathy Rodriguez.


We have an awesome litter of puppies now out of Sahara’s Daughter Zakara and Chet. As well as a beautiful litter out of Latifa and Chet. These puppies will be ready to go in three weeks.
Zakara Latifa and Chet have had some nice wins at Specialties around the US. These should be beautiful puppies with excellent temperaments.

Kate and her owner-handler Steve Garland, went to their first four Hunt Tests (in two different states) in January and February of 2009 and came home a winner in all of them! Kate earned her Junior Hunter title in 4 consecutive passes despite difficult conditions such as running in 70 degree humid weather but finding and pointing 5 birds in one hunt test and qualifying in her other hunt test her first weekend out. Then Kate and Steve braved winds up to 35 mph their second weekend out to earn both of Kate’s last two JH passes in fine style.

Also to her credit, Kate and Steve earned Kate’s Canine Good Citizen certification. Now Shelley is working with Kate in Agility!

But Kate is not just all birds and brains and good manners. Kate earned a specialty major as Winners Bitch at the Atlanta English Setter Association Specialty show in September of 2008. To date, Kate has 12 points towards her AKC Championship and plans are to finish her this year. [Kate is exclusively handled by Amy Duncan in the showring.]

Kate owns, loves, plays and hunts with Shelley and Steve Garland of Pineberry Kennels in Georgia.

Ezekiel, Set’r Ridge’s Royal Heir (Sarge x Sera) wins back to back Wins at the Phoenix Specialty. He won Winners Dog at both Specialties under breeder judges Anthony Disiena and Ann Yuhasz. Ezekiel is trained, owned and shown by Micah. Prior to these two shows, Micah has only shown Ezekiel at the PSESC Specialty Sept 08 where he won the Sweepstakes. He will be shown this summer at another Specialty. He has produced some beautiful puppies.

Datara- Set’r Ridge’s Day Dream Believer (London x Sera) won Winners bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex on Feb 27th at the Phoenix Specialty from the Bred By Exhibitor class under breeder judge Ann Yuhasz. She also won her sweeps class under Breeder Judge Dr Lin Sell. Datara turned twelve months old on February 8th, 2009.


Fleetwood- Set’r Ridge’s Believe Me (London x Sera) Fleetwood has been OFA prelimed Excellent hips, normal elbows, normal thyroid, BAER at eleven months of age.
Fleetwood won BOS in the Puppy Sweepstakes (12-15) under breeder/Judge Dr. Lin Sell.
He went on to win from the 12-18 month regular class Reserve Winners Dog under Judge Jean Fournier and then won Winners Dog under Judge Robert Vandiver.

This trip to Arizona was only Fleetwood’s second AKC showing. He had previously been shown, at 7 months, at our Puget Sound ESC Specialty last September where he won BOS in the Puppy Sweeps under breeder/Judge Kenton Deich. The PSESC Specialty followed his quite dandy debut at the ICBA shows where, at the tender age of 6 months and 24 days, he earned both his National & International titles. He is owned, loved, trained and handled by Lynn Neff.




Talia, Ch. Set'r Ridge's Intensity CD RN JH, Ch. Set'r Ridge's Select Gold X Ch.Fieldplay's Bayside Winnerseve, Earned her rally novice title. Chloe- Set’r Ridge’s In The Sensation (Emanuel x Tekel) Chloe was shown for the first ever time Dec 5-8 08 at the Shoreline/Malibu Show in Costa Mesa where she earned her first point and she since earned points in every event she entered (at least one of the days in each event) including a 4 point major in Palm Springs. She finished March 15 (barely over 3 months from her debut). She has also gotten multiple best of winners and best of opposite. Chloe won Winners bitch one day of the Phoenix weekend and finished her Championship two weeks later in California. Chloe is owned by Roger and Toni Barbosa and expertly handled by Roger Kibbee and Kathy Grayson.

Carter, Set'r Ridge's Platinum Kid (Ch. Set'r Ridge's Platinum in Gold x Ch. Set'r Ridge's All Kiddin Aside of CW), now has 11 points and just needs one major to finish his championship. He has gone WD four times, BOW three times, and won BOB as well at local shows this month. We're having a lot of fun with our handsome boy. While he is fun to show, he prefers sleeping in on Saturdays and playing with his orange, spotted sister, Kali. Carter owns Sara Jo and Joe P.
